Friendly neighbourhood nature guy, local food, community building and miniature hobbying. Native plant gardening in Ward 3 #hamont
I won’t post anything about the remnant leeks I saw out in the wild today. Happy to see there are parts of #hamont still rich with spring ephemerals 😌

A brook trout populated creek in Flamborough that could use some love. It’s overwidened and in full sun, making it higher in temperature than it should be.

I’ve got some rooting in water right now if you’d like once they’re ready

Patiently waiting for the new trees and shrubs to pop. We enjoyed the warm weather after work :)

Let me know if you’re interested in receiving any free native plants I propagate annually for the community. Available in mid-late May.

This stand of switchgrass toppled over after that dumping of snow we had a week or so ago.

With that setting with lots of indigenous seed, it looks like the equivalent of a cozy couch and bag of chips for birds 😁

There’s a home in my neighbourhood (206 Farleigh Ave S.) for sale with a ~200 year old Red Oak and I’m worried about it…. 😣

A reminder to take a deep breath, stretch out and relax when you can find the time.

With the cold weather coming it was a good day for some soup. Last bag of Ontario asparagus until spring 😌

2025 miniatures primed and ready for painting! I love the aesthetic and lore behind the Deathwatch; these miniatures don’t have much kitbashing save for a few like the Black Templar Lieutenant

I scored another bag of 🍂💰! The newly restored backyard trees are lacking and the soil is poor. There were several bags of leaves by a neighbourhood 100+ Y.O. White Oak; in addition to the nutrients these leaves will provide, there may be moths, butterflies and other insects saved from landfill 😌

Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a sick day. Planning to finish the backyard herbaceous layer next year.

Fall colours coming in nicely.

Paper Birch and Red Osier Dogwoods planted this year in depaved and restored back yard.

Hoping the birds will follow. 🐦‍⬛
