Greetings from San Diego.
With all the bad news of the day, sometimes it helps to just appreciate a quiet moment like this sunrise here in my part of San Diego.

My gal Pico does the same thing. Looks like they could have been litter mates.

Sunrise on Tuesday morning up in my little corner of the San Diego region in Rancho Bernardo.

Someone posted this here a while ago that I thought was fitting. It’s what comes to my mind when someone says “hunting is a sport”.

The view from my backyard down in the San Diego area. Budda relaxing beneath my new Japanese Black Pine tree that got put in a couple weeks ago.

Video of today’s rally

The biggest No Kings rally yet in our Rancho Bernardo neighborhood in San Diego,CA. I’m guesstimating 4-5K folks showed up and lined both sides of a main street running through this town. We brought these signs to the rally today a stood together with a diverse and peaceful community. #NoKings

I checked the wiki page on Sprouts and it did indicate it had some stores in NC, but didn’t mention where. It does have a bigger footprint out west however. I’ve seen Banza (I called it Bonza elsewhere) advertise on YT and some cable shows, so I would think it is distributed nationally.

Today I made chickpea pasta shell salad with faux bacon, onions and peas from a YT recipe from Derek Sarno. Easy to make and great as prepped or served cold. Chickpea pasta has a good amount of protein and fiber and I would bet even non-vegans would enjoy it.

My 11 year old girl Pico also likes to seek out sunny spots for a nice daytime nap.

Riley is a real beauty. My girl Pico has similar coloring; the orange color really shows off when she is sitting in a spot of sunshine for fun.

Got to see the Falcon 9 rocket flying over the San Diego area tonight around 7 PM. It launched from Vandenburg up north from here and was traveling from northwest to southeast over me.

Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery! Happy Caterday from Oliver and Pico.

I have been using the Happy Cow app for a while now. It’s been very helpful at locating vegan food options both near home and while traveling. I’ll also put in a plug for the non-alcoholic brews from Athletic Brewing. I’m fond of their Hazy IPA and Run Wild IPA.

I found a recipe over on YT for a dish called “thousand pea salad” that calls for pasta shells (Bonza’s chickpeas shells) and bacon and peas of course. I used tempeh bacon which worked out well. A really tasty vegan meal with plenty of protein.

Athletic Brewing, which has an office here in San Diego, has a nice lineup of non-alcoholic brews that I like quite a bit. Their Hazy IPA is especially good.

C’mon out to the left coast. They didn’t include us on the map.

We have had 36 monarch caterpillars graduate to butterflies so far this year. Barely have any milkweed leaves left on the plants.

My cat Pico has asthma and she gets her inhaler twice a day. She is very tolerant of the procedure and it’s easier to administer vs. a pill. Sometimes she purrs when getting her inhaler and the little flap vibrates quickly as it opens and closes. That’s always fun to watch.

We were present to witness a monarch butterfly emerge from its chrysalis a few mornings ago. I’ll repost it here in case you missed it from an earlier reply.

There are quite a few monarchs in my yard this year. I have a caterpillar tent that I move the stage 5 instars into before they transform into chrysalis. So far about 15 have become adult butterflies and left the tent.

It was a nice turnout in RB today.
