I'm not sure when or why this started, but somehow #AI has become associated with a people to blue gradient.

I'm starting to see a lot of AI things with that splash of color.

I got a recruitment email from DOGE which is hilarious to me. Not only because some Nazi department would think I would want to work for them, but don't do during a government shutdown where they can't pay employees.

Enshitification has been saving me a lot of money recently. First I saved $360 canceling my #xbox ultimate game pass which I've had since launch (and I've had xbox live since beta) due to a 50% price increase. Now I've cancelled #discord nitro because I'm not paying to see ads in my app.

I had to return the MacBook I just bought (without opening it) because they released new AirPods. The computer came with free AirPods and they were updated between the time I ordered and received them. Unfortunately they wouldn't do a swap in store so I have to wait a week for my computer again.

I did some research looking for a laptop to program #Godot on and wrote a post about the research process.

I surprisingly went with a MacBook Air M4 due to battery life, build quality, and touch pad controls specifically for Godot and Aseprite.

Day to day, I normally use my desktop for game dev along with any other programming and gaming that I do. However, there are times where it is useful to be able to have a portable machine so that I’m ...

My computer stopped working yesterday morning. Wouldn't post at all. Had to emergency order a new MB to be delivered overnight.

Installed it this morning and it all works again. I was however reminded how unsettled I am when my computer is out of commission.

Unpopular opinion but I think switch 2 game prices are fine and probably have to happen. The gaming industry hasn't significantly raised prices in 30 years despite inflation. Massive layoffs abound and people can't survive in the industry anymore. I'd rather games be made than not.

Stressful and not fun, but I was able to secure my Switch 2 along with another one for my partner. I hope to not have to do that again for a few more years.

Been having fun the last few days I'm #godot making a dialog plug-in. Mostly working on the UI. I have a file explorer and a way to save new dialog. It's rough but a nice start. The hope is to add translations.

I'm amused and unsurprised that this is an actual (not satire) article title.

#GDC was good. I'm glad I went. I have more ideas and passion for making games and more realistic thoughts of myself in the industry.

I'll do my own thing and make what I want. We'll see if anything ever comes of that but in the end, I'll make games.

I tried to summarize some more of my thoughts on 2 more of my days at #GDC.

I will say that while I'm finding this conference inspiring in some ways, in others it's almost sad due to the state of the industry. Through it all though, it's exhausting. Trying to take better care of myself now.
GDC So far
While my original intent was to make a post every day of GDC to talk about what I experienced that day, that ideal was way too ambitious. I ran out of time and energy most days. Yesterday I was so wor...

I was honestly surprised on how useful the talk #microsoft gave at #GDC on #gamedev productivity tools on windows was. It mostly talked about some terminal and power toys stuff, but that was actually pretty good. A bunch of useful shortcuts and terminal stuff that I can actually use.

Yesterday at #GDC things slowed down a lot for me. I was exhausted from doing too much the days before. I did get to see the #IGF and #GDC awards and both were excellent. No ads or reveals. No one rushing speeches. It was just celebrating the creators.

So much better than the video game awards.

I've owned Caves of Qud for years and never played it or even knew what it was about (or how to pronounce it apparently). Just saw a presentation about indefinite early access with that and Dwarf Fortress and now I really want to try it out.

Yesterday I got to see a talk by Billy Basso (the creator of Animal Well) and it was awesome. Today I will get to see a talk by Tarn Adams (Dwarf Fortress) and I'm so looking forward to it.

When I would buy a laptop or a desktop, I generally would buy them based on performance. I game a lot so I wanted something top of the line that could do things quickly.

Now I have an arm surface pro and the fact that it's super light and the battery last forever is just better than speed.

My first day at #GDC was a long one, but I think overall worth it. I made some my thoughts available here: developeraspirations.com/blog/gdc/202...

I sometimes hesitate to call myself a #gamedev because I haven't released a game and my day job is android programming at Google which is not making games. At #GDC alone as an independent dev. Hoping to try to meet other devs tonight though not sure where to start. I'll be at GDC nights.

About to watch the Animal Well talk at #GDC. Developing at 5MB/year. The room is packed and they choose way too small of a room for this talk. It's a tiny room and more popular than almost any other talk I've seen.

The love for the #Unity keynote at #GDC is already pretty long. I should still be able to make it in. Looking forward to seeing what they have.

Went to the #GDC 101 panel and in the Q&A someone mentioned off-site parties and a site for it. I looked at it and it seems interesting, but on the page it mentioned #thegig which is for Games Industry Gatherings. It seemed like a cool organization, until I looked into them and the exclusions of it.
