I saw a post hours ago about fall lichen. I had already taken this photo while walking the dogs (nine and ten years old, barely tolerant of photo pauses)
A medium branch covered with lichen, downed by the 40+ moh gusts last night then covered up by the falling leaves
After the windstorm, yellow and brown large maple leaves covering bright green lichen on a freshly falen branch.

Watchduty Lower Sugarloaf Fire Evacuation Information LOWER SUGARLOAF FIRE: On the west side of the fire (Plain side), we are dropping all levels there down to Level 1 Fire Advisories. On the Entiat River Road side, we are extending the Level 3 (Get out now!) on Entiat River Road, from Roaring Creek Road up to the intersection with Crum Canyon Road. The Level 3 is ONLY on the the west side of Entiat River Road. That patch of Level 3 that was on the east side is now a Level 2 Evacuation (be prepared to leave) area -- so the east side of Entiat River Road, from Mills Canyon Road to just past Mad River Road, is under a Level 2. What does this mean? It means Entiat River Road is now open. However, we continue to ask people who do not live in the Entiat Valley to stay away from Entiat River Road. Conditions may change -- quickly.

Fire managers will work with cooperating agencies to reopen Highway 97 as soon as possible. Yesterday: Structural protection groups assessed and prepped cabins and homes in Valley Hi and surrounding communities. Firing operations from the Road 9737 – 9703 junction (NF Teanaway/Stafford Creek) northward to Road 112 were successful in consuming unburnt fuels between the main fire and primary control lines. Firing operations were also used along Middle Shaser Creek Road 200, as part of a large-scale effort to establish a continuous control line around the eastern perimeter using Bear Creek, Iron Creek, Teanaway Ridge, Shaser Creek, Highway 97, and Ingalls Creek to the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Boundary. Rain on salvaged plant. Neighbor gave up on this and gave it away. It did well in a pot in our Seattle yard, then our Paine Field yard. One year it seemed to give up but revived. We brought it to our new place and it loves the less sun slightly warmer more humidity climate. I forgot its name
