and less personally violating that anything that happens with Yoru but seeing Denji being violently cannibalistic while using a sort of logic that is the direct antithesis to the way of thinking that has guided her entire life has to change something about her feelings toward him.
right?

If this last chapter is an indication that Asa’s love for Denji has remained unchanged and as strong as it ever was, that she truly does want a life with him, means that I am to read these moments as having no effect on her perception of him, their relationship or future

I hope that Pochita eating Gun and Tank off Yoru is actually significant and this aspect of his erasure ability is brought up again- eating parts of a devil’s body weakens them.
Death, Gun and Tank erased should /significantly/ reduce the fear of War and therefore her power.

I’m really loving this theory too. It also plays so nicely being placed into my book of Death/Yoshida parallels and similarities.

It’s a vital part of understanding his mental state and what is actually meant with his decision to make /his own/ world and I would also argue that this moment is of similar importance and also similarly forgotten

What I think basically everyone is missing about this situation is that Asa /has/ been living in Denji’s world.
a world where she is fundamentally not heard, not seen or recognized, where her value is contingent on the pleasure her physical presence & body gives him, one she feels trapped within

She says she wants it because she has to want it- this is exactly what she has told herself over and over again will justify her own continued existence.
Giving Denji back his normal life. Saving him from his pain. This is why she’s still breathing. Shouldn’t she want this?

She says she wants this- but does she? Does she want to be in /Denji’s/ world? Or does she just want to be in a world where her body is her own again, where every choice she makes isn’t dictated by someone else?

am I so wrong for seeing fear in this expression- specifically, the sort of reflexive dread that comes with something that you’ve told yourself you’ve wanted finally coming to pass, only for what you actually feel behind the self-telling bubbling up within your chest

I think the intention is that despite being so hurt by the world what Denji needs to remember and what he is failing to see is that the other people in this world are fully realized human beings beyond how he can immediately identify with them or categorize them into an objectified value,

Yoru says that Death will have a “next role” in her goals going forward, which indicates to me she does not plan to use CSM to erase her from existence.
I think Yoru is aware that a large part of her power and meaning is contingent on death- War is pointless with no end, no way to determine victory

Was Death just wrong about Yoru’s intentions for her, or deliberately lying?
