Build more housing. Proud Canadian
The thing I don't get is, do the right wing loons in the UK that pushed this really want the UK to go down the US route - do they think that is going well, and is going to end well? Will they cheer when half of Buckingham Palace gets demoed for a UFC cage match venue and everyone hates them?

Don't get me wrong, this is great, but it is not great that this is what it took to make it happen:

You could probably fit in a few people at the comically overpaved intersection of Harvard and Princeton in Port Moody:

If people want tickets, they better go get them now, all sections in the Upper Deck look like they are open now, and just the back half of the South end sections are left....

Did you know that Grouse Mountain built its new 'Blue Grouse' gondola in just over 2 years, for $35 million?

Just saying...

I caught the newly opened Port Moody shoreline boardwalk at sunset the other day, and it is pretty great.

Between being out in the suburbs and being newly opened, I think it is fair to say it qualifies as a 'hidden gem'

I remember this xkcd strip: xkcd.com/993/ where I was like, dude, this is exactly how the Walmart house brand works, but I guess it might not be surprising that Randall doesn't shop at Wal-Mart...

Back in the 70's, even a low density residential neighbourhood was considered suitable for slip lanes. Thankfully these are relatively easy to fix, if the will is there. Credit to Port Moody council for this transformation,

Data is great, but it might be better to lead with a chart that gives a more realistic assessment of what is happening, i.e.:

It is about as cookie cutter as you can get, but as experienced on the ground (I have a friend who lives in the area), it is actually quite nice.

I agree with you, but at the same time, I am not sure how much innovation we need - just give me a grid with narrow streets, street trees and lane rather than driveway access and you can't go too far wrong.

For example, here is a relatively new suburban development on Vancouver's urban fringe:
