I hear you. It has just been an off week, and my sleep schedule has borne the brunt of it.

I am guessing that includes science.

Might as well go ahead and demolish the whole White House and build his own building of whateverness as he clearly sees it all as his property now. Once demolished there would be nothing to argue about as it is all gone.

To Trump he is a "great economist." He is great at moving Argentina's economy into the pocket of him and his friends.

Robert’s is working hard to take the Roger Taney position on the list for worst Supreme Court Justices at the minimum

But isn’t the fact that all these cities are bastions of crime and war fronts in his mind enough to justify that … in Trump’s mind? Remember we have left rationality behind and generally no one will stand up to him in Congress or judiciary (can always find a Trump judge to sign off)

President can suspend it.

Also that military essentially no longer has to adhere to Rules of Engagement

I imagine there is some conversation about an approaching red line… if ordered to advance into American cities and engage them as a hostile force? What do they do? Some will resign, some will accommodate…

honestly, I was surprised Trump and Hegseth didn't make them stand and swear a new oath of allegiance to the President and not the Constitution given the speeches today

To be honest, I was surprised, given the speeches this morning, that the affair did not end with the military brass not having to swear a new oath of loyalty. I expected the President to call all officers to rise to their feet and confirm their oath of allegiance to him and not the Constitution

I agree, should not but why do you think they will not? in the 1930s Russia purged its entire officer corps and installed military leadership loyal to Stalin. Not sure this crew is organized and thoughtful enough to do it themselves, but technically have the authority by position to do it.

It is such a great idea. MAGA should embrace the idea of cops being required outside every bar. This would reduce crime significantly. I am sure this is exactly what they want in their communities, too. <sardonic commentary notice for the sarcastic impaired>

I realize this is in jest, but there may be some reality to your statement. Gone down rabbit holes looking at recipes, remembering favorite dishes (swear there's a moment of memory of the actual taste), and exploring different ways to prepare. I feel satiated afterwards. Brain happiness?

But we are the United States. Does international law truly apply to us that we don’t want to follow under this administration? considering the willingness to ignore laws within the country that have been routinely enforced in the past. Why should we expect to follow international law that is not.

Umm… no the Jesus they believe in is white with blue eyes and brown hair. Also, has seemingly changed his philosophy to say it is okay to turn your back on the poor, the immigrant in your land, and the statement “do unto others as you would have done unto you” does not apply.

I agree. The only interesting thing would be if US creates some international tension between countries and bans fans from certain countries from attending.

To each their own, right? I love peanut butter but have the food aversion you describe towards olives. I think it is great to have food that appeals to one and others you find abhorrent.

I agree. Some seem desperate to defend whatever Trump does as great despite evidence of the difference. Never seen an allegiance to a single person in politics (forsaking an entire party) as the right voting-bloc has to Trump and his ideas.
May 22, 2025 at 8:59 PM
While I agree with you Patrick, the problem is a significant number of poor, lower-middle class, and middle-middle class people vote for and support this for reasons unbeknownst to me. We just seem to be in a time where people prefer to hurt others rather than share and all benefit together.
May 22, 2025 at 7:56 PM
One of these parties is not like the other. You can be mad about the Republican party and its choices, but to its voters and other non-political people, they are seen as getting things done. Sure, they blow up norms and throw away precedents, but to people who want results... they deliver.
