I think you'll like it.

You might be able to catch it pretty soon ... it's already down to only one showing a day at my local theater.

I'll try and check it out this weekend. Don't know how much I'll get out to the theaters given all the snow/ice they're forecasting.

Mercy, In Cold Light, and Return to Silent Hill are the only new titles I see on tap.

Is see Dog Day Afternoon references a lot, and it makes a lot of sense. Especially with Pacino involved.

I'd not seen Sugarland in decades - as I watched I realized how close the stories were aligned; kidnappers taking a single hostage, the impossible demands, and law enforcements reaction to them.
January 22, 2026 at 2:49 PM
Of all the crazy demands, the apology should have been the easiest and quickest to secure. 😂

The news updates during the movie, which I believe included actual news footage from '77, helped sell the authenticity.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it. 👍

I did a quick search yesterday and learned that Tony did communicate with a radio dj but that it was a news guy. The jazz/rb dj and music added so much to the vibes, I’m glad they made the change.

Might be my favorite movie of ‘26 so far!

I’ve seen the two recents, big fan of both … particularly Dead Man’s Wire. Been thinking about it a lot the past couple days. Having seen Sugarland Express yesterday, I realized how similar the two movies are in some regards.
January 20, 2026 at 1:40 AM
Yep, it definitely plays that way. Gets right to it, too, most of it takes place over those taut few days.

About to see Sugarland Express … haven’t seen it in over 30 years, probably.
January 18, 2026 at 7:29 PM
Dead Man’s Wire is a fun pic - will probably be more entertaining the less you know about the actual events.

That said, knowing it’s based on real events is part of the fun. Would be an odd bit of fiction to create.

Period details are great. I enjoyed seeing actual footage during the credits.

Iirc, it took him roughly a year to complete because they could only shoot on weekends … everyone had full-time jobs. Very low budget but it had an interesting premise and looked great considering their limitations.
January 17, 2026 at 10:07 PM
Did you see 28 Years Later (2025)?

And yep, this one is much better, imo.
January 17, 2026 at 9:58 PM
Seeing Dead Man’s Wire here shortly. 👍

Nolan’s first film, low budget flick Following, is in theaters today. I missed our only showing, though. I saw it a couple decades ago and remember being impressed … remember vey little about it, though.
January 17, 2026 at 9:56 PM
I still have Peacock, too. I’ll have to remember to watch it when I‘m looking for time killers before football games tomorrow. 👍
January 17, 2026 at 9:54 PM
Confession … I’ve still never seen this one! It got great reviews but I somehow never caught it when it was released (crazy year).

How I’ve never seen it since is a mystery. 🤔😂
January 17, 2026 at 9:24 PM
Yeah, no real reason other than that to include the masks.
January 17, 2026 at 9:11 PM
Right, I’m only thinking about, and commenting on, their horror output. They seemed committed to the genre, which is great, but seem to have forgotten how to make good ones lately.

Drop was fun, though, not a bad little b-movie.
January 17, 2026 at 9:07 PM
People have been waiting for Murphy’s character to return, I imagine this ending will result in a big opening box office for the next installment.
January 17, 2026 at 5:51 AM
Great scene. 😂

I kept waiting for him and Spike to connect again, that was a nice (sad) payoff.
January 17, 2026 at 5:50 AM
I haven’t seen the Long Bus, but they’re definitely mostly horror.

They had M3GAN which could have been a solid franchise. But they took the sequel in directions that killed people’s enthusiasm.

And they ended their Halloween sequel/trilogy so poorly in ‘22 many might never trust them again. 😂
January 17, 2026 at 5:47 AM
And I did like the Jimmies more than I would have expected. Not ‘liked,’ of course, but enjoyed as a villainous gang. The tone was much better this time around. I like Kelsin much, much more this time around. Loved all the needle drops … and his turn as the ‘Devil’ was wildly fun. 😂
January 17, 2026 at 5:26 AM
I don’t trust Blumhouse to do much of anything at this point. 😂 Their Exorcist reboot was among my least favorite movies of the past decade.

Black Phone 2 was decent, but pretty much any other title from their studio in recent years has been dreadful.
January 17, 2026 at 5:19 AM
I didn’t see it, but I did notice the draft date had been set when I checked out the yahoo fantasy app earlier today. 👍
January 17, 2026 at 5:14 AM
Right, I’m looking forward to it solely based on seeing how well they recreate 1977. 😄
January 17, 2026 at 5:11 AM
… gave this a tight conceit to wrap the action around. I understand why people enjoy the Samson angle, but I’m not big on examining the infected/zombies in this way. I wasn’t too keen on Romero’s ‘Day of the Dead,‘ largely due to the similar ‘Bub’ storyline.

Really enjoyed it, though. 👍
January 17, 2026 at 5:09 AM
I left work early caught both Bone Temple and Reservoir Dogs today.

I definitely enjoyed Bone Temple much more than last year’s entry. The whole ‘apocalyptic/survivalist’ angle still isn’t my thing, but I did like the basic plot of this one. Spike making his way back to doc by way of the Jimmies ⬇️
January 17, 2026 at 5:03 AM
Oh, they should ... would make sense, and they've done similar releases with other titles.
