I know next to nothing about spiders, but this web caught my attention. Does anyone recognize it? Same Houston Forest, Texas.

t's raining galls! Galls of the mealy gall wasp are falling out of the southern live oaks all over Houston. As you can see, a lot of them are damaged, as though something tried to eat the larva in the center chamber.

Phasmidae - stick insects -often produce highly-figure eggs that appear to have erils. They don't have erells, but some experts think that some phasmid eggs may escape predators this way. Eggs are widely scattered, perhaps to evade predators.

🌿Giant Gladiator Tree Frog, seen along Ucaya River, Peru a couple of years ago. These guys emit a loud human-like scream when disturbed.

Convergent #evolution. On the left is the creosote bush walking stick, Diapheromera covilleae, on creosote bush in Arizona. On the right is Astroma riojanum on creosote bush in Argentina. They are in different families, pretty unrelated.
