- 13 RCTs, 2 non-randomized studies, and 3898 participants, prophylactic antibiotics did not significantly reduce surgical site infection risk in hand and wrist trauma surgery (highest-ranking regimen RR 0.29, 95% c.i. 0.04, 2.13)
Further well-designed RCTs are needed to address residual uncertainty
