Law Prof Maxwell Stearns wrote a timely book called Parliamentary America: The Least Radical Means of Radically Repairing Our Broken Democracy. He advocates a # of reforms.

On the Balkinization blog, one review a day by different people will appear, with Stearns responding last. See my post 👇 here:

America now has 935 billionaires with $8.1 trillion in collective wealth — a 20% increase from 2024.

Meanwhile, the bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 935 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

“When stationary, a software glitch can cause the wheel to turn itself back and forth without any input from the driver. It’s basically one step away from a nightmare scenario on the highway.”

Firstly, let’s all agree that 2026 will be the year to stop using the word “glitch” to describe bugs.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

“Whether the outcome is ultimately good for Venezuelans, as I hope, or bad, Trump has betrayed Americans,” Conor Friedersdorf argues. “He could have tried to persuade Congress or the public to give him permission to use force. He didn’t bother.”

Republicans rushed tax cuts for the wealthy but delayed their cuts to Medicaid and food assistance. Why?

So they don't kick in until after the midterms.

Help spread the word.

I’ve been in or around politics for over a half-century now.

I’ve watched as corporations and the super-rich flooded D.C. with campaign cash and ransacked our system.

It won't be easy, but here’s how we break the corporate oligarchy and return power to the people.

There has never been a dictatorship, monarchy, autocracy, or oligarchy that benefitted the majority of people.

So why is the dictator-wannabe supported by so many people who will never prosper from him?
