To close the faves of 2024 list let's talk about Lawful from @gregpak.net and Diego Galindo. I bought this because I trust Pak and that trust was well-placed - this is an unsung hero of the year. It's nuanced and the characters are fully understandable even when they're wrong, which for me is ideal.

Next to talk about for fave of 2024 is Jorge Corona and @skottieyoung.bsky.social's Ain't No Grave. 5 issues of action-packed and character driven awesomeness. This team keeps knocking it out of the park and '24 was no exception. At this point if anyone on this team is on a book it's be a must read!

Nice House on the Sea likely needs no introduction. A direct sequel to the previous Nice House book, @jamesthefourth.bsky.social and @amartinezbueno.bsky.social continue to absolutely crush it. The intrigue is intriguing, the writing top tier, and the art is utterly fascinating. Top shelf stuff!

Last but not least on the "talked about before, remains excellent" list is Vicarious from @thatryanparrott.bsky.social and Eleonora Carlini. After only 3 issues this story has already taken us for quite a ride and I love it. In an era of decompression I appreciate the pacing of this book. No brakes!

Another book I've mentioned before, One for Sorrow from @mckelvie.bsky.social is amazing. Only 1 issue has been released as I write this and it's so good the whole series makes "fave of 2024" list. Stellar writing, amazing art, intrigue, old-timey goodness. The gif is me waiting for more (no rush!).

The last few years have been a renaissance for the X-Men and 2024 saw new fissioning of the characters across books. Among VERY strong competition my personal fave is Uncanny X-Men from @gailsimone.bsky.social and @davidmarquez.bsky.social. Rogue as the leader and some new mutant youngins? Yes plz!

I said this when I caught up with the first issue after missing it for a month or two, but @kierongillen.bsky.social and @casparw.bsky.social's The Power Fantasy is phenomenal perfect 10 comics. We're 5 in so far and I take NOTHING back about that initial reaction. This series is gonna be banger!

Next up, time to talk about Kill All Immortals from @zackkaps.bsky.social and Fico Ossio. The story of someone breaking away from the family tradition, business, and custom is itself a worthwhile read but then add in the incredible violence? Win. Conflict should matter, and this book reflects that!

Rogue Sun from @thatryanparrott.bsky.social (and changing artists who are all wonderful!) has been a kick ass book for a couple of years now. The issue pictured here, 19, was possibly my favorite of the year because it's a FLIPBOOK. This series isn't afraid of doing unique approaches to storytelling

Public Domain from is incredible. First and foremost it's a wildly entertaining book primarily about people in rooms talking which is often just hard to pull off. It's funny and heartfelt and perfectly paced. And then it's a comic ABOUT making comics and I just love that.

Next to address is the delightful Zatanna Bring Down the House series from Mariko Tamaki and @javierrodriguez.bsky.social. It's wonderfully odd and heartfelt and balanced extremely well between serious and fun. The art perfectly adapts on each page to reinforce the story being told... as if by magic

I'm probably not the first person you've seen talk about how excellent @jedmackay.bsky.social and Alessandro Cappuccio's run on the Moon Knight series have been, but heaps of praise can't hurt right? It is just excellent work and 2024 kept the same energy it has for years. Fantastic comics, period.

Saw Akogun, Brutalizer of the Gods at the shop and just had to buy it. Good decision, as @ayodelemurewa.bsky.social gave great insight into what drove the characters so we could draw our own conclusions and @dotunak.bsky.social made every blow, wound, and movement feel real and potentially deadly.

G.O.D.S. was something I was initially skeptical of but decided to buy the first issue and immediately congratulated myself for it. A fetch quest with a main character that has some secret masterplan? Sign me tf up! The issue highlighted here, #7, is a particular standout (in a series with several)

I'm not going to be the only person talking about how good Ultimate Spider-Man has been this year. The entire Ultimate line is crushing it, but Spider-Man is my personal standout. What a book this has been, a must read so far, so I am stupid excited to see what happens next. Start here, read it all!

Have been truly enjoying Wonder Woman by @tomking.bsky.social and @sampereart.bsky.social this year. Excellent balance between build up and pay off through tense writing and some exceptional art and the entire saga around The Sovereign has been top tier. If they keep this up 2025 is looking good!

Petrol Head was recommended to me on a whim by one of the workers at my local shop and hoo boy was she right. @robwilliams71.bsky.social knows how to make you care for robots both large and small and @pye.bsky.social's art makes the pulse race like you're in the car with Petrol Head and hang.

I am now and will continue to be the madman shouting in the public square about this book! 12 issues and it's totally complete and is great. On the surface it's about a journey across the US to reclaim a soul but it's so much more than that. I never see anyone talk about it and that bums me out
