I can’t believe I’m posting this. Not only in the US deporting people with no due process, essentially kidnapping them, they are often using full body shackles. This is sick.
ICE's use of full-body restraints during deportations raises concerns over inhumane treatment
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have been using a full-body restraint device called the WRAP during deportations.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

DISASTROUS. This means they will send people to horrific situations with no due process — in direct violation of promises the Solicitor General made to the Court in previous cases.

This greenlights sending people to be enslaved in Libya or tortured in any random foreign country.
#BREAKING: Over a (sharp) public dissent from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS clears the way for the Trump administration to remove migrants to third countries *without* giving them an additional opportunity to contest whether they face persecution or other forms of mistreatment there:

Thanks for reading!
@jcarstensen.bsky.social I read A Greek Tragedy in one sitting on my flight. The way you described these people’s lives before they fled is beautiful, and it is a reminder that everyone has a story. Thank you for giving coverage this one story out of millions.

Here it is — A Greek Tragedy: The Official Book Trailer! Thank you to my dear friend, filmmaker Paul Lundhal, for making this beautiful visual introduction to my book — including the mesmerizing animation of Orpheus’s head washing up on Lesvos.

Eighteen more migrants, including at least four children, drowned today trying to cross from Turkey to Lesvos. I mourn for the families and loved ones of the deceased. These senseless deaths must stop.
The tragedy of the Aegean has no end, today 18 people died in two separate shipwrecks north of Lesvos.

25 people were rescued, 9 bodies have been picked up from the sea, and one person is reported missing, believed to also have drowned.
