Trump is destroying US weather forecasting and research because he dislikes the word "climate":

Their dismantling of NOAA is as disturbing as their dismantling of NIH. NOAA is the hub of climate & weather science & they’re destroying its capacity.

To fill the void & bolster California’s science leadership, we’re pursuing legislation (SB 829) to create the CA Institute for Scientific Research.

BREAKING from @science.org: The Trump admin is seeking to kill nearly all climate research at NOAA, its climate science agency.

Its near-final budget proposal would end all NOAA research labs, academic institutes, and regional climate centers. And it wants to fully end the NOAA Research division.

The Trump administration has begun firing employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, one of the world’s premier centers for climate science.
