I’ve just listened to part of The Epic of Gilgamesh in Akkadian whilst lying in bed. Proof that the internet can inspire as well as it conspires.
While doing research on ancient languages for a novel I'm working on I discovered Dr. Martin Worthington at Cambridge University. After years of study, he's come up with an approximation of Akkadian. You can listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh here:

I applaud all of this work on training bar staff to help prevent spiking and giving women plastic covers for their drinks. But maybe we should be looking at training men NOT to spike drinks and, maybe, not rape women?
