Publicly, Dems projected a unified front for 40 days.

But behind the scenes, they were anything but together.

“For the last 40 days – and for the first time in the Trump presidency – Democrats have driven the debate and put Republicans on their heels.... This was a battle worth fighting, and it was worth fighting longer.” www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

I deleted a tweet from earlier about Sen. Markey saying he planned to vote against this deal "with every fiber of my being" because I misread the statement and it was actually from Sen. Merkley. My bad.

Rick Scott, Mike Lee and Ron Johnson all just voted aye.

Even Democratic Party chair Ken Martin is trashing this vote:

“As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote."

Some Dems fuming about this deal.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth:

“I simply cannot, and I will not, vote to do nothing to help protect [ppl who rely on ACA] from Trump’s vindictive and malicious efforts in exchange for a vague promise from the least trustworthy Republican party in our nation’s history."
