Even the Dem centrists at Third Way are mad about the deal moderate Senate Dems cut with Republicans to end the shutdown:

"We should not have surrendered until we received at least something tangible on lowering health care costs."
November 10, 2025 at 4:52 PM
I deleted a tweet from earlier about Sen. Markey saying he planned to vote against this deal "with every fiber of my being" because I misread the statement and it was actually from Sen. Merkley. My bad.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), who cut the deal with the GOP to reopen the government + caved on demanding ACA health care subsidies be extended as part of any deal:

“Let’s be clear.... There is no one in the Senate who wants to see these tax credits extended more than me."

How you can tell the shutdown is getting to Trump now
November 7, 2025 at 4:47 PM
We're at the point in the government shutdown where the entire Democratic congressional delegation from Colorado is urging the FAA to please let their state's biggest airport use its own funds to pay air traffic controllers.

The story is that Trump made up stuff to try to take credit for falling food prices at Walmart, but also, this image our team made 😂

Fresh off of big wins last night, Schumer and Jeffries demand a bipartisan meeting with Trump to end the shutdown

Someone who had been threatening to kill Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) was arrested today after trying to enter the Capitol complex after telling Garcia's office he was coming to kill him.

Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."

"Shutdowns are stupid," says Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.). "I think obviously the American people oughta hold us all accountable."

CSPAN caller Vincent re: Dick Cheney's death:

"Well? Good riddance. Any miserable war monger that dies is a good thing.... A lot of people are dead because of this jerk, who's a snotty jerk on top of that. He lied us into war.... I'm glad he's dead--"

Show host: "Okay let's hear from Vicki..." 😂

Trump/GOP leaders in Congress are about to cut off federal food assistance for millions of low-income people, and millions of people's health care costs are about to skyrocket, but don't worry -- someone is focused on the gunzzzz
October 30, 2025 at 8:20 PM
In yet another Trump admin move that is equally insane and illegal (hi, Hatch Act), the USDA's official website now carries a message at the top blaming Democrats for poor people not getting federal food assistance and throws in stuff about "illegal aliens" and "gender mutilation" WTF

Trump's latest fundraising email. 😂

Response from Arjun Mody, Trump's pick for deputy commissioner at Social Security Admin:

"I don't believe the president would ask me to break the law."

Hassan: "That is not an acceptable answer, of course, because he has repeatedly done things that courts have found to have been breaking the law."
October 29, 2025 at 7:09 PM
So... Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) asked the 4 nominees in this hearing a simple question -- if Trump directed you to break the law, would you follow the law or follow the president's directive? -- and not one could just say they'd follow the law.

😬

Elizabeth Warren: U.S. soybean farmers are in trouble because China quit buying from them. Who is China buying from now?

Julie Callahan, Trump's pick for AG negotiator at USTR: "..."

Warren: What is the country?

Callahan: "China is purchasing Latin American soybeans."

Warren: "Latin American??"

"Until Spotify removes every ICE ad, Indivisible is calling on everyone to cancel their subscriptions, and on artists to take a stand by speaking out against their work being weaponized for hate," Ezra Levin, Indivisible’s co-founder and co-executive director, says in a statement.
