P.S. There’s never been a better time to support your local library. I don’t know who I’d be if not for the many libraries that served as a school and shelter for my curiosity.

Despite decades of progress in reducing air pollution, Los Angeles is still the nation's smoggiest city, according to a report released Wednesday by the American Lung Assn. The association's annual "State of the Air" report noted that Los Angeles held on to the infamous title for the 25th time even though the number of unhealthy ozone days has dropped nearly 40% since 2000. Particle pollution metrics told a similar story, where Los Angeles saw improvement but still had the dubious honor of being the nation's seventh-most polluted city by that measure.

International students make our colleges and universities better. They make the student body better. They make America better.

The cruelty is the point.
I asked my student the other day if she was thinking about registration for fall classes. I thought I was making small talk, and maybe I could help steer her towards classes that would be a good fit. She started crying. She had been working for the past two days to come up with a "Plan B" to finish her degree, in case her student visa was terminated. I shouldn't need to say this next part, but I will in case anyone is reading this in bad faith: she has not participated in any protests or signed any petition. But she knows that she is not safe anymore. She can be denied her future, on a whim.
