£20 for 5kg in a nearby farm shop. Each kg makes a good meal, we used some for burgers recently. Remember buying half a rabbit in France complete with eyes (or was it 1 eye!) You lookin'at me? Supermarkets there sell pigs ears too, never tried that

That sounds wonderful, maybe my Sister-in-law's Dutch husband knows about it. I say Dutch, his parents are German but he moved to Holland when he was 4. Their daughters have learned Dutch. My brother married a German and their children are fluent in German. Great gift to have

Just had my lunch too, and looking forward to my dinner!

I'm going to a conference in Bologna next Summer. Apparently they are very particular about what can and can't go in it. People always think venison is a luxury item, but we're not short of deer in this country and it actually cost me less than beef. Has a richer flavour

Sounds spectacular! We always used to do the thing of pouring brandy on the Christmas pudding and settling light to it. Managed to avoid any serious injuries! Hope the weather is good where you are. Sunny down here after the storm

A friend of mine has a T shirt that says "I am silently correcting your grammar as you speak"!

Love stollen too

I bought some glühwein from the other German supermarket and also hope it will be nice. Moderately alcoholic (8%). Tonight's dinner, venison Bolognese is simmering on the hob already. Germans do Christmas well

Sorry, didn't mean to say scrumpy and cider, same thing!

Having said that, we are blessed with beautiful scenery in the UK. In Devon we have moors, tors, great beaches and coastline, local produce including fresh seafood. You can get fresh mussels in a scrumpy, cider, and cream sauce at a local farm shop and 5kg of venison mince for £20. Not all bad!

You may be right there, amazing food wine and scenery. Lovely people. I hope your children do have ears!

We were very disappointed when our oldest daughter split with her French boyfriend. Family had apartment in Paris, house in Parisian suburbs, and estate in Ardeche! However, it seems family weren't very pleasant so maybe for the best

I think my wife had an exchange friend in Rennes. I went camping in France a lot with my parents, and we have taken our children there several times, to Normandy and the Loire Valley. 35°C in Loire so châteaux provided welcome relief as did troglodyte caves!

So the area around Rennes? Lovely

What part of France does the French part of your family come from? Probably my favourite country outside of UK

It also has a double helix staircase based on a design by Leonardo da Vinci. There's your fun facts for the day. Miserable weather here in the South West of England, but listening to the infectiously cheerful Hot Club of Cowtown, who I've seen live twice. Phenomenal musicianship

The French Chateau of Chambord, which I have visited, has 365 chimneys, one for each day of the year, apart from a Leap Year of course!

I was very touched. The client also came in with the most gorgeous therapy assistant dog, who lay calmly next to them. I have a picture of the dog as my desktop image at work

Farage tell lies? Surely not!

For clarification, the gift was for a colleague not me sadly, but another client made me this wonderful character with a hat like a piano keyboard

A client hand painted one of the cones from our monkey puzzle trees as a gift. Each piece painted with nail varnish

Why not, could be nice!

I used to eat the daisies in our garden when I was young. Didn't do me any harm!

Though I must emphasise that I am genuinely interested by all the people I meet. They are amazing people that have survived so much. If I ever lose interest then I should stop doing my job
