100%. DeS and DS feel like they're designed in a way where you actively have to pay attention to a relatively small item/equipment pool to solve problems (mostly because they were usually more drastic + more linear level design). It sort of feels like an old PC adventure game where you stop and think "hmmm what do I use here"? Even though all of From's soulslikes let you tackle problems like that, ER doesn't force it on you anywhere near as heavily. I think this is a big part of why some people hated some of the harder bosses, because for the first 30 hours of the game or whatever you just aren't in that sort of equipment management mindset. So when you finally hit a skill wall, it really fucking hits.

god so many areas have a great layout, but there aren't any dudes in fucked up positions to take advantage of it 😭
