Exploring the real life potential of renewables that promote our humanity and your local green environment.

The convenience of a control switch blinds us to the consequences of our energy use, this is the core problem.

Efficient wood burning in the UK, paired with ancestral forestry techniques, not only reconnects us to energy but also makes ecological restoration a necessity.

Wood burning in the UK 2024

A fireplace was the original focus.
Staring into it gave space to think, to drift, to just be.

Now our gaze is fixed on screens, the trance manipulated, not meditative.
Maybe the real pollution is the digital noise drowning the natural rhythms we once lived by.

Light a fire.
Remember who you are.

The delivery of heat depends on the fireplace design, while its effectiveness determines overall efficiency and emissions.
The timeless beauty of a traditional brick fireplace hides its function as a thermal mass heat store, retaining usable heat long after the fire has gone out.

Folklore designed to keep you on the path...love it!
English Bluebells are imbued with fairy magic, & if you walk amongst them at twilight it brings bad luck

An even worse date awaits if you walk into a circle of bluebells, especially as it’s difficult to see ‘the circle’, as the fairy magic will ensure you die not long after 🫤

There are 24.4 million households in England, and only 0.00414% complained about chimney smoke last year.

Let that sink in...🤨

Every night is a clean one with a modern wood stove and good old British know how, we have cleaner air now than for centuries!

To create a timeless centrepiece, low-emission updates must seamlessly blend with the splendour of British design that shaped our architecture and fireplace efficiencies. The unique warmth and appeal of a real fire, using local wood fuel, remain unmatched despite many attempts.

The green credentials for efficient wood burning are dependent on locality and the many unique factors that are relative to that area.

To say it's all 'false' and 'bad' is as misguided as saying it's all 'green', without exception

Certain approaches to environmental activism harm more than help, often bolstering the very systems they seek to dismantle.

The greed of exploiters and the fervor of activists alike fuel our downfall.

Polarising debate hinders meaningful progress that the majority yearns for.

With cleaner air in the UK now than for centuries and switching to modern wood stoves helping to improve air quality further, it's now that time of year when the emergency air quality salespeople must prove their worth to their shady backers or risk having to get proper jobs. 🙄

Looking back at hundreds of years of chimney building makes you wonder if a modern stainless steel pipe sticking out of a bungalow can be called 'progress'

In an era where sustainability and health are paramount, how do we balance beauty, functionality, and environmental impact in architecture?

A centrally positioned brick chimney breast was limiting the flow and obstructing the view. We reimagined and reconstructed it, transforming the space into a striking double-sided centrepiece.

To put visible emissions from modern wood stoves into context, look at the low level fumes coming from your gas boiler on a chilly day.
Burning fossil fuel produces pollution that is harmful to health, environments and the planet.
