Tips from a long time DM.
1. Breathe. Your players are there to have fun and share a story.
2. Listen to the players' side chatter. They will give you plot hooks and quest ideas.
3. Say "yes, and" ALOT. Is there an inn here? Yes and it is run by a beholder named Gristleback.

I grew up in a snow state. I came to the Pacific Northwest to not have snowy winters. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the thick, deep silence after a snow covered forest.

While my mapmaking is not spectacular, it does let my world live and breathe. It also allows me to work through trauma and FND (functional neurological disorder).
