A message on the façade of a museum in Berlin — a museum of the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie. Ukrainians aren’t alone. They need more support. But they are not alone.

The Holocaust memorial in Berlin has a stark power that crept up on me. (It is at the corner of Hannah Arendt and Cora Berliner streets.)

With David Frum, I have had a conversation about antisemitism: antisemitism left and right (and all mixed up). David talks both intellectually and personally. Our subject is dead-serious, of course -- but there are streaks of humor. A rich conversation. www.jaynordlinger.com/p/antisemiti...

"Evil" is the strongest word in the English language (on the negative side). Trump has called Pelosi "an evil woman." Elon Musk called the National Endowment for Democracy an "evil organization." Have you ever heard such people call Putin or his atrocities "evil"? This matters.
Q: Do you have a statement on Nancy Pelosi's retirement?

TRUMP: I think she's an evil woman. I think she was a tremendous liability for the country.

A media company can be whatever it wishes to be -- that's democracy, that's an open society. But the idea of Fox "patriot awards" is -- a little strange, I think. www.foxnews.com/media/list-a...

“Bill Buckley taped some episodes of ‘Firing Line’ in the Sistine Chapel. I can’t see myself podcasting from that room; but I enjoyed looking at Dan in the Royal Gallery, via Zoom.”
In a new "Q&A," Daniel Hannan and I have talked about a range of subjects, including monarchy, democracy, populism, antisemitism, and poetry (Larkin, Conquest -- and Shakespeare). Such a privilege, to converse and learn from this fellow. www.jaynordlinger.com/p/live-from-...

Loved reading this. And it really tells you, or gives you a flavor of, what it's like to sit down and have a leisurely conversation with Bill. Well done, Claremont student-interviewers.
Here, if people are interested, is a wide-ranging interview with a couple of Claremont students from a month ago. A little on contemporary politics and on Trump and on Mamdani, a little on conservatism and liberalism, a little on liberal education.

Conservatives come in many flavors. The American conservative, traditionally speaking, seeks to conserve the principles and ideals of the American founding. For @renewdemocracy.bsky.social's Next Move, I have written an essay on this touchy, important subject.
