Winter installation in progress….
November 20, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Eek. Looks like winter is being installed tomorrow and the quad bike & plough are temporarily out of action until a new fuel pump arrives…. But that aside, WHOOOP. Bring it on!

Spending time with my mum, sorting out her ipad storage issues, and stumbled across this gem. My maternal grandparents wedding photo, we think about 1919!

Home to the mountains and the pumpkin/squash harvest. 36 in total… Soup time. I love autumn.

In other news, today I am sharing the swimming pool with two frogs. After the initial
surprise wore off, I have concluded I quite like the company. They’ve taken up residence in the filter traps. Not entirely sure sitting on chlorine tablets is ideal for them, but they seem quite happy!

Also a lovely bridge. Would go under it again. 10/10 because animals are involved.

You could try to find my favourite locksmith in the souk… I bought my first lock from him in 1998 - he’s still there!

Restaurants: roof terrace at L’Mida (pic) and at La Fondouk. Both magical, both need booking. Modern Moroccan food.

Back to back changeover done. I could share a photo of the laundry mountain, or the dirty water in the mop bucket, but that would kill the dreams of the “hey let’s run a gite in France” folks. And really it is mostly fun. But changeover days absolutely suck. Have the view from my sofa instead

Clearing out the last boxes of stuff from our move 10 years ago. Amazingly the old moroccan rug that I paid £10 for 20 years ago, cleared €20 on the local FB marketplace. Now to see if the old cameras fare as well. I kinda doubt it. Technology gets outdated more quickly than hippy-chic I imagine!

First one completed… now sorting the next one! cc @dzyrl.bsky.social who is probably doing something similar right now!

Wandering around the EU parliament estate today. Still pissed off. Le sigh.

This evenings veg garden patrol included a pumpkin count. If they all make it, we have 10x tromboncino, 5x muscat de provence, 6x blue hubbards, 6x orange bog standard orange jobbies. whoop. On track for our best year yet!

And, drumroll, Sergei the Siberian can offer a paw (as long as treats are in sight).
July 20, 2025 at 5:27 PM
for the last month, we have been trying to teach the cat to offer a paw on request. It felt like a pretty unlikely mission… but bugger me, he’s beginning to get it!

This anglo-turkish foodie household is totally up for this delightful tome. A wonderful collection of stories, and some truly magnificent dishes, beautifully, atmospherically photographed.

Well that was a good read. Not too high brow, not trashy at all, thoughtful, evolving, tension building, engaging characters. I shall miss it now I’m done.

First cut flowers of the season! Zinnias are really a bit patchy - i think they’ve not liked the 35+ heat, but the dahlias are doing great, and amazingly the shade loving calla lilly.

The storm flirted with us, leaving a hint of petrichor. Hoping for more tomorrow, but in the meantime, a cracking sky. #nofilter
