They're saving the cats!
They're saving the homes of the people who live here!

Tomorrow, the U.S. House will consider a bill to ban trans girls and women from playing sports nationwide. Republicans have been very outspoken about their support of the bill, but almost no Democrats have mentioned it. Even the Congressional Equality Caucus has remained quiet about the vote.

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.

I feel mislead by all dystopian literature. It's supposed to be a powerful authoritarian government that lords over a cowering population, and and we just need need a few brave acts of heroism to give the people the courage to rise up.

Instead it's just half the country being dumb and mean.

Just thinking about how the expanded child tax credit would have lifted half our nation’s kids out of poverty.
