It’s important that even though the strike is over, we do NOT let this city council off the hook for the cost of the scab work done to undermine our workers’ right to strike. Philip Brown still has to go.

The city of Charlottetown has just voted in favor of accepting a collective agreement for CUPE Local 830 Charlottetown Water and Sewer workers 🎉

🧵: The City of Charlottetown, PE banned a few of our striking members from city hall about a week ago. So CUPE came back bigger and stronger. Today we went door to door handing out information regarding CUPE LOCAL 830 ’s strike, including naming which councillors continue to vote against our workers

I think the piece that is the most deadly in today's Canada Post announcement is that the feds are allowing the corporation to end mail shipping via air unless the mail is deemed important. This will mean that it will take forever to mail stuff with regular fare.

Jimmy Kimmel is a symptom of a huge problem: a concentrated media ecosystem beholden to corporate whims.

Canadian media struggles with this too.

Consider Global News' management making Ben Mulroney a top political host.

It's a worryingly partisan decision, especially given what I just uncovered:

We've gone through 40 years of consecutive Conservative and Liberal sell offs of our crown corporations...including Mulroney's offloading of AirCanada
Genuinely curious how many people saying this think that it's never been public. I bet almost none.
Seeing various "Air Canada should be nationalized" takes. Yeah, you mean RE-nationalized.

"After the deregulation of the Canadian airline market in the 1980s, the airline was privatized in 1988."

I'll start this post off by saying that I am happy about the bridge toll reduction. There's always a "but" though.

This isn't solely aimed at the bridge...but as MP MacDonald side-stepped the tax question on Compass, we have to ask how is the next 7 years of Straight Crossing's contract being paid?

This looks fun. I remember playing MKII in the 90s. Absolutely getting destroyed by kids half my age 😆 I was only in my 20s but already button mashing the new fangled fighting games. :)

Wonder if we'll realize that bargaining with a narcissist is pointless. Yes, it would be a pain to separate and diversify from 30+ years of free trade...but it really should be an option on the table. But we know Carney won't.

As a follow up to my earlier post. This should be a must going further.

"the government should invest in the expansion of a public cloud—built and run by a Crown corporation with public financing to serve government needs, but potentially to expand beyond that too"
Canada should build public cloud infrastructure rather than relying on U.S. tech giants - CCPA
During the 2025 election campaign, prime minister Mark Carney made a striking admission about Canada’s dependence on U.S. tech companies. The Canadian government was in the process of choosing a partn...

Almost through Nora’s second book…and the 2 things that piss me off is the amount of investment we lost with Mulroney…and then shackling ourselves to the US.

We lost all of our ability to take care of our own…and instead cozied up for a quick buck.

This is an example of what is bugging me about this Liberal government.

Federal IT spending is about 2.5 billion/yr. Software expenses almost account for 400 million. A 2021 European Commission report, has shown that governments can save up to 30% in IT costs by adopting open-source solutions.
