We are having the wrong conversations in healthcare.

We shouldn’t be asking how we can increase hospital capacity. Instead we should be asking how to prevent people from needing the hospital to begin with.

What happened to prioritizing primary care and preventative health?

'You're not protected,' ethics expert warns people who participate in privately funded research | CBC News
Ethics experts say Canadians should think twice about becoming research participants, because the federal body that holds universities accountable to ethical standards has no jurisdiction over privately funded studies.

The AI transcription tool Whisper hallucinates in a large fraction of its transcripts.

It's been used for 7 million medical transcripts. People want to use similar text to transcribe bodycam audio for police reports.

Both are among the WORST applications of the tech.

Researchers say an AI-powered transcription tool used in hospitals invents things no one ever said
Whisper is a popular transcription tool powered by artificial intelligence, but it has a major flaw. It makes things up that were never said.

Never let them tell you it’s not possible: Ne'Kiya Jackson and Calcea Johnson achieved the 'impossible' during their final year of high school in 2023.

Important 🧵on our new peer-reviewed paper:

The pandemic is as bad as it ever was for babies - in year to Aug 2023, 6,300 babies under 1 were admitted to hospital wholly or partly BECAUSE of Covid.

They are ONLY age group where admissions have NOT gone down over time 1/17
