Married to Doug (http://www.douglasjlane.com) in OR. Impatient gardener, food & beverage fanatic, former engineer, data driven liberal.
The efforts & funds are for supporting impacted residents. Good.

Yet while comparing immigration officials’ "infliction of fear and distress in the community to acts of terror", they are still allowing it. Bad.

Not standing up to terror only enables it.

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Doctor Who", or "Transformers".

We have moved onto other birthday shenanigans. After a hh punch it's time for a banging rum flight at Rum Club PDX.

All creatures great and small, and a massive number of people, out showing solidarity and love in Beaverton's #NoKings march!

These were some of the best signs, and we had a full menagerie who love America and Democracy at Beaverton's #NoKings march!

Crowd in Beaverton OR #NoKings protest so much larger than las time - easily 2-3xs. Couldn't ask for a better birthday party!

I imagine this parade must make Speaker Johnson quake in his boots!

Recent pic online - pretty sure she had no idea what he actually looked like.

True! I realized I'd kick if it had turned, so went ahead with flashlight harvest.
The basil is doing well in its bucket of water. The thai basil was starting to wilt in its bucket so I've tried cutting to single stems and putting in fresh water. Thai basil pesto may be this morning's chore.

Our fight continues. We've had to fend off the basil as well.

The only war here is waged by our tomatoes, attempting to overwhelm us by sheer numbers. We have stayed vigilant against the horde by roasting, BLTs, tomato sandwiches, sauce, varying salads, used in cooking, & gifting away!

(perhaps 13 tomato plants was a few too many?)

My bean trellis brings to mind "spit and baling wire" 🤣🤣 Bamboo stakes, old green fence, pvc pipe, branches, twist ties, twine, and a golf club head*.

I have some kale🤞🏼🤞🏼 will keep going, and will try a couple of starts. 😁

(*$2 per at HfH, we saw off the end and pound them in for hose guides).

This yellow pear tomato thinks it's a chicken.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 🤣🤣🤣

Hey @jerseyoutwest.bsky.social, remember when you gave away fig starts and I took one?

It's about 2' tall and has hoop dreams. 😁

I really enjoy those too but not doing great this year.
It's one of my struggling plants. It has grown but is smaller than usual, it's set several fruit but also smaller than normal and only one has ripened with lots of cracks.

Check out the size of this garlic clove (from the farmers market).

Finally something appropriate for when a recipe calls for 1 clove 🤣🤣🤣🤣

#TomatoSeason in full swing here! 🌱

Would love to hear folks favorite uses!

We've been doing greek salads, tomato sandwiches, roasted cherry tomatoes, "moonblush" (overnight mostly dried) tomatoes, tabbouleh, cherry tom's & ciliegine mozz salad, and use in cooking too.

God Bless Nishta Mehra for introducing me to the joy of Peach Tomato Basil salad. It marries the best of summer together in such a lovely way.

Garden tomatoes & basil (& chive cause I like it), Hood River white peaches, s & wp, evoo, and bit of white balsamic to set off the sweetness.

Our house is light grey with black doors (ugh!) but was done 1-2 years before our purchase in '23, so it doesn't make maint or $$$ sense to repaint house yet.

We WILL be painting the black doors our previous house color to at least give it a pop. The color looks much brighter irl.

Love butcher block! We did own own staining (food grade) for these walnut countertops ourselves in our last place when we did a mini-reconfigure. Sadly it was for the sale - one of those wished we'd done it sooner!
