Today in 1776, Admiral Lord Howe and General Howe led a masterclass in 18th century British amphibious operations in the East River. It would have been an amazing sight to see, especially the initial bombardment from the frigates to clear the way for the landing along Kip's Bay.

I wish I could have seen it and the other landing less than a month later.
