At least it ain't GDC level

As much as I love chatting the shit with game devs, and it's great seeing Develop hosted where I live, but I think I'll pass on these prices 🫠

Can we re-popularize hiding Polycount's Greentooth logo in games? Love seeing these hidden everywhere, it's like a secret artist code 😄

Can't say I'm surprised no one found the one I slipped into Dead Island 2 - it ended up getting heavily compressed in the intro cutscene. I'll do better next time!

If this doesn't itch your environment art brains, I don't know what will

I went to Kraków in Poland and only took pictures of walls and buildings.

But like, come on, look at this 🤤

Couple of scans of my hoodie at work today, thrown in toolbag quickly. Really happy with the detail this rig can capture, holy moly 🫢

Back at it again in the studio 😎

Been working to establish a photogrammetry pipeline at the studio recently, which gave me the excuse to try this funky dry plaster method for organic plug-in meshes/cliff faces.

Sometimes I forget this is my job 🫢

Hoping to get back into Star Citizen in a big way soon - just waiting on the flight stick now 😩🙏 Dual stick in the future, probably

Bitumen roofing + dirt pile meshes for S&box. I don't want to sound like too much of a company shill, but having such a loose NDA to where I can post my work is so freeing.

It makes me wonder how I ever waited multiple years for a game to ship just to show my work off.

Hackweek #3 was just three days for me due to a game dev meetup in Sweden, so I wanted to see how quick I could put together a cool environment in S&box. I collaborated with @rickgreeve.bsky.social & @danduw3d.bsky.social to make Fireside, a S.T.A.L.K.E.R-inspired environment piece.

Hackweek #2 for me was more laid back. I was enjoying using a mix of Designer, personal scan data and photosourcing to create materials and hotspots, so I just spent the week doing that.

Hackweek #1 was within just a few weeks of me joining Facepunch. I spent time learning Source's particle editor, then moved on to making a PS1-style spaceship twitch shooter with @bakscratch.bsky.social called FP4. Hammer's toolsets made creating anything in this style incredibly quick and easy.

Ended up finding and opening the file - mainly just focused on the larger forms, manually scattered it all around based on reference 👍

I went into doing this texturing course with little confidence in my own texturing ability. I realize that can sound a bit snarky, but I think the takeaway is there's serious value to be found in dedicating projects to learning something new. I surprised myself and learned so much in the process

I'm scratching the darkest depths of my drives and in the process found some WIP's of this fella - thought it'd be nice to show a few.

For a long while, I wasn't even sure I wanted to add rust. The forms reads nicely with the bare metal - so much so I kept the upper plate mostly clean in the end.

Another set of pretty primitives without a home - tuna chunks were sculpted in zBrush.

Ever since I've had a weird urge to sculpt more food 😀
