Not for nothing but does an IGF award have strong effects on game visibility/sales? Might be a big reason specifically publishers aren't interested.

Thanks for sharing the experience! Your note about accessibility (the real accessibility) really resonates with me. For all the Ai bro talk about "making creativity accessible", none have really address capitalist drive to make money off of "accessibility"! It's disgusting!

all of this is also true for sexism. you tell me you think women are biologically less smart and i’ll suspect that i could probably convince you to drink your own piss

Been almost surreal to see it because I distinctly remember practically the same argument being made to millenials ("you'll grow out of it and be conservative when you're older")

4 steam has never been friendly to casual games for whatever reason. Perhaps it's audience but they've never cracked how to serve lightweight, easy access games to the audience. there's room for a dedicated market for that.

2 should be an obvious weakness: if you can offer better rev share for devs, they will come. This 30% tax on the entire videogame industry by Valve has always been absurd

Expanding on 1, steam requiring every store page to look the same has flattened on what can succeed. Connecting to 3, if you grab a random 100 of the steam audience, chances are you get CS/Roguelike Gamers, this is the audience you have to penetrate before the algo will give you more visibility.

and as a growing general problem on the internet, search remains the biggest challenge. It's not fun anymore (or was it ever?). Discovery being locked to algorithms has completely ruined any sense of ownership in store experience online.

Like no you're not gonna unseat Steam, but you can certainly go after all the people who aren't gonna go near Steam for a variety of reasons, like- that's a LOT of people

Hell, damn near the entire Causal Game audience is still floating in the wind, most didn't convert to mobile and just gave up

I keep thinking about Refik Anadol's work, presumably the highest penetration any AI art has made it in the artworld and the net result of it being a very hot 8K screen showing a screensaver

I might be misremembering but I feel like I read from you once about a lecture for how players always have the option to quit? The statement does feel at odds with that idea
