Been a bit! Motivation n progress has been at an all time low but I finally setup this lil after image effect I've been wanting to do for a while.

Just early fiddling but really I wanna use this specifically for the hyper jump and dashes.

Got dialogue boxes all hooked back up for #ScreenshotSaturday. Also fixed that problem where words shift n wrap around as they appear while you're trying to read em.

Oh ya and happy accident when I goofed up the see through shadow material. I got to see that white outlines and a dither texture look real neat. Idk if I do anything with this information but I dig it lol

More rolling! Holding the roll button is now another way to transition into slides. Also started a system to have input windows on montages. Keeps it so jumping out of a roll happens consistently and at the right times, not too early/late.

More animations for roll jumps, punches and a lil air attack. You can probably guess where some inspiration came from. Real happy with how the jump outta the roll turned out!

Been stuck in the UI mines so as a reward I spent a little time updating wall runs/slides to handle moving platforms! Im ignoring momentum for now since it allows for some annoying extremes but the character now properly attaches to actors

Been quiet on the platformer for a bit! Not the cool kinda quiet where I get to show back up with a bunch a progress but it's been a needed break.

Easing back into it with saving/loading stuff and this lil animation might play into that.

Messing around with some halftone dot stuff. One use would be for comic-y shadows but really I think I might just use this for some UI stylings. Lets see how bsky gif quality goes but maybe the material graph is helpful for others!

Finally reworked the health/hits/respawns that'd just be sitting broken for a while and now much cleaner too. Maybe ill figure out what I want the UI presentation to be now that things are workin

Cleaned up a lot of cruft with portals to make them perform way better, especially when theres multiple close by/in view. Not perfect but theyre useable! last thing to work in is to get audio to 'flow' through them.

Doin camera work today, dialing in some auto follow rotating! Also it might not look like much but the camera finally no longer overpenetrates into the walls in the corners and i'm ecstatic about it 😅

The only way to solve the blank canvas is to toss things at the canvas. My hope is to one day not feel like im cobbling things together so randomly when blocking out a space, never quite feels right

Tiny thing, but now wall jumping gets influenced a bit by directional input instead of being the same angle from the wall every time. Makes it more dependable to hit a wall flat on and slide down, or to continue along the next surface

Fiddling with different types of platforms. Ones that cycle on a timer, cycle on jumps, or ones that appear as you make contact.

Grind jumps! Theres no magic determining the jump needed to reach the next rail, just a preset jump force, but for now good enough!

The monster hunter obssession has faded enough for me to gamedev more. Did some portal fixing. Still some hitches and audio stuff but they play nice with with the post processing now and also handle the camera lag nicely during transitions!

Started a framework for a little move list menu, mostly to learn UI video stuff. Current plan is this'll better reflect the branching control sequences that you've learned/unlocked (e.g. crouch > slide > longjump) and what to try discovering next
