Of course. I use one all the time. It is full of use.

Our local library doesn't even charge late fees.

I have read dozens of books that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Libraries are awesome.

Thank you for outlining my loss of faith in what I knew as America.

The Stand, uncut. About 280,000 words, I think.

The Grapes of Wrath was about 170,000.

Agents/publishers want writers to bring in a sweet spot of 90,000 words, plus/minus. Hm.

If I enjoy reading something, I'm apt to read it again.

I write what I enjoy reading.

A couple weeks ago, I picked up one of my books. "Crap! This is good! Who wrote this, anyway?"

Yeah, I read my own stuff. And I like it. If that's arrogant, it's also factual.

My faith in the processes and simple perspective has disintegrated.

I dunno. I'm a social media dunce. I get a follower, I follow back, I post, and the post goes unheeded into the ether.

Wishing you better luck than I've had.

Well, I'll see that politick and raise a protecktion.

If you receive public benefit - roads, fire protection, police protection, storm drainage, education for your young, building/development code protections - you should pay taxes.

Beautiful shot.

My favorite is The Dead Zone. It's sorta horror but more suspense and thriller. Very well-written, very relatable main character in a situation he didn't ask for but must deal with.

If you want to write, On Writing is great. Snapped me out of a 12-year funk.

I like to read 'em, and I like to write 'em.

Welcome aboard, sir. Nice to see you again.

That would be hard to say, but one under the James Patterson brand. I don't think he wrote it. Not only unenjoyable but painfully formulaic and awkward, full of contemporary cultural references and chapters that stopped and restarted in the middle of a scene.

Didn't finish it, not even close.

Well, crap. There's no way, after all ST-TNG, Voyager, Deep Space 9, and yes, Stargate SG-1, that I can identify with that.

Back to Paramount+ to check it out.
