These are California native big leaf maples. They like to grow in riparian areas, aka near rivers or creeks, in this case the upper Arroyo Seco (near the headwaters). 🍁

Sacred datura, devils trumpet, jimsonweed… she has many names but my favorite is TEACHER 🤍 about biology, history, and the ecological balance.
