It's the exact same pattern as "blockchain" and "nft" money-chasing not even slightly long ago. And really the same people.

At least some indies are absolutely against it. Definitely a problem with every company that is either traded publicly or looking for larger funding right now, because that's where so much of the money is (supposedly) coming from. Also not just *game* companies.

Should use an exponential scale for each house past the first.

1 house: good
2nd house: 100%
3rd house: 200%
4th house: 400%

Most of the epic PVP betrayals I've seen have been at the political level of guilds betraying allies. In open PVP there are always the handful of individuals who just want to kill weaker/inexperienced players, which mainly just drives a substantial part of the player base to another game.

What really happens:
1. Make product
2. Some people buy product
3. Owner demands 1 trillion pay package / private equity saddles company with debt
4. No money left to pay workers
5. Lay off workers to reduct costs
6. Nobody can afford product
7. ???
8. Profit?

What is *supposed* to happen:
1. make a better product
2. more people buy the better product
3. workers get paid more
4. invest in improving product (go to step 1)
5. workers have more money (step 3) to buy the improve product (go to step 2)

I don't know about anyone else, but *my* income sure hasn't increased by 1000x since the 1980s. Living expenses on the other hand...

Meanwhile in the depths of the cavern, a single tower-cap has claimed the lives of five forgotten beasts who have leapt to their deaths on top of it. The dwarves are reluctant to open the cavern. The miners would rather return to the upper reaches of the fort to drink.

Now year 34 of the fort, year 134 of recorded history. The fourth wild dragon, Amayi Flareheats the Ivory" came to visit. He is 420 years old, which means he was alive for nearly 300 years before the beginning of recorded history. Captured and trained but will never really be tame.

Almost word for word what someone on one of the projects I'm working on said to me the other day...

I died a little. The world died a little. Their brain died a little.

I'm pretty sure that also generally includes people.

To reinforce this, there was a project I was trying to promote that I was sure I'd posted about like 1000 times in a month. A local relatively plugged-in friend, near the end of that month, said "I didn't know you were doing that".

If you think you've posted enough about your thing, you haven't.

Rather than that, I grant her the credit of free will, which just means she's an inherently horrible person doing this because she wants to.

Historically exactly *one* thing happens when a government starves the population, which is exactly the thing they've been trying to incite.
