Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.

These are the same people who howled about "changing history" when monuments to traitors and murders were being rethought. The Trans community was central to the events at Stonewall in 69 and the emergence of the Gay Liberation movement in its aftermath. Do not forget!
The National Park Service eliminated references to transgender people from its Stonewall National Monument web page, removing the “T” in references to LGBTQ+ on the official site for the Greenwich Village monument, which marks a milestone in the fight for gay rights.

Starting this Black History Month by highlighting the life of Jerry Lawson.

Jerry was one of few black engineers in the 70s and even fewer VIDEOGAME engineers, he has been referred to as the father of the home videogame console for his innovations on cartridges.

"It is a sad feeling to be afraid of one's native country." - Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861) by Harriet Jacobs.

Unfortunately, we have been here before. There were those who were courageous enough to resist oppression and injustice. Remember their example and be worthy of it.

Today, I finished reading "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" (1861) by Harriet Jacobs. What a heartbreaking, inspiring testament! Every American should read it. Let us take courage from those who had the courage to resist oppression and injustice in their time, and be worthy of their examples.
