The deer on campus are fearless. Concerning for safety for both the deer and folks who may see them as animals you should/could try and touch. I skirted around them and avoided approaching as much as possible considering they were right by the door, but they were keen to approach me and curious.

Parked cars and a road are visible on the background. The doe is right across from the fauns from the first picture. She is grazing, head down on the opposite side of the sidewalk, also seeming unbothered by human proximity. Both fauns are looking toward the camera.

I know it's probably too late in the season for my emergency replanted pepper seeds/sprouts to amount to much fruit-wise, but I'm still just absolutely delighted when they peek up out of the dirt for the first time!

Coconut husk square planters contain dirt and white gardening stakes with pepper varieties written on them. They resy in a plastic basin on top of a dish towel. In the dirt of six of the in-frame 8 planters, little adorable two leaf sprouties are poking up, looking joyous. The sugar rush peach plants have two visible plants and one partially obscured. The middle planters, marked as lemon drops, have two baby plants and two more just poking out at the base of each stalk. The furthest two, marked scorpion red, have one little guy still bent over in the dirt, ready to reach his first two leaves for the sky any minute now.

I have a higher casualty rate with my poor pepper babies this year than any other year. The few survivors of my back and forth work situation have finally made their way outside though! I'll be upping their care routine, and trying a few creative solutions in addition to friend waterings this time.

Still a few dud planters, but some real progress from the plants that did sprout! And super close to "put the big ones outside" weather. Gotta clean up my balcony in the very near future and clear off the remains of last year's garden.
A flat black tray rests on a green and white striped kitchen towel. In it, coconut planters are full of wet soil, and in some cases, actual leafy plants! Seedlings for pepper plants, ranging from 1cm little sprouties to 10 cm big leafy mini trees ready to be transplanted.

A month in and nada from my Chocolate Ghost or Scotch Bonnet seeds, so I placed another seed order. Hoping it's in time still. Hoping for a great big pepper jungle this year. Pics are from my 2023 year, on a Burnaby balcony. Lifetimes ago.
A lush green jungle of various hot pepper plants on a balcony. Small green unripened peppers are visible on some of the plants. Further back in the dense foliage smaller ripe red pequin peppers point upward rather than dangling down from the plant. On a balcony overlooking a Skytrain station, poking out from a bunch of leafy green plants are little pinky fingernail sized red pequin peppers. The branches of the plants hang just past the guard rail of the balcony, obscuring the building and trees below.

An undomed tray full of coconut husk planters, each full of dirt and with a white tag outlining the type of hot pepper seed planted in each. The dome is on the tray, with a grow light positioned on top of the dome to bring beautiful fake sunshine to my little pepper babies. 20 little planters ready to start bringing the spicy in a few months.

How my property readings are going:
A covered plant dome with a long tube light on top rests on a dish towel over a heat mat. The dome is currently empty, sitting on a table with an embarrassing mess of cords and cables nearby. A number of small glass bowls/containers are arrayed with seeds nearby, getting ready for a pre-planting peroxide soak to help germination. Seed types are labelled and include Jamaican Scotch Bonnets, Red Trinidad Moruga Scorpions, Sugar Rush Peach (misspelled as paech), Lemon Drop, Chocolate Ghost and Peachadew. All are varieties of hot peppers.

We have a dentist friend. We are hiding this monstrosity on their Christmas tree at a party tonight, and not saying a word about it.
A truly horrific anthropomorphic tooth with a strained expression on its face. It hugs a giant toothpasted toothbrush in one arm, and the giant toothpaste tube in the other. It is baring all its front teeth including its gums, and the tooth-teeth are restrained with braces of glitter. If nightmares had teeth, this is what they would be.

I can hear the Kamloops Christmas Parade starting to kick off. Marching band is tuned and warmed up (metaphorically I assume) and there are screaming children and Christmas tunes audible from 4 blocks over. It begins.
A fog wall obscuring an elevated view of downtown Kamloops. Roofs of nearby buildings are dusted with snow, and a lot is filling up with cars.

Spicy tornado has stopped burning my eyes and face skin, but my apartment no longer smells as nice. Or maybe I'm adapting. Changing... Evolving?
