Future wars will feature:

-Soldiers betting against their own side then throwing the battle

-Campaign objectives being decided by what fulfills a general's parlay

-Casualty figures now including soldiers who were killed by gamblers angry that the army "ruined my bet."

In this case in particular a Substack is way easier because if your book is making huge allegations about someone else (particularly given that Nuzzi is already suing Lizza) the publisher is gonna want to go over it with a fine-toothed comb first.

Probably the book, but the book also requires you to get a publisher while anyone can create a Substack.

Part of this is that people act like you buy all these ingredients and only make 1 sandwich. No dude, you can make multiple sandwiches and that's why its cheaper.

In a healthier environment Nuzzi wouldn't be in the position to have her affair with RFK Jr. because her long track record of previous unethical behavior would have ended her career before then.

I also think when you have a very bad and aberrant person who does a lot of damage its worth looking at the system around them to figure out why they were able to get as far as they did.

Its very telling that 99% of the audience isn't actually reading Lizza's blog, they're just waiting for someone else to read it and pull out the juiciest bits.

It would also be a lot more intimidating if the government's last big attempt to imprison their critics hadn't fallen apart in a hugely embarrassing fashion a few days ago.

He claims she did catch-and-kill for RFK stories and also helped write campaign memos, which contradicts her claim that the affair never influenced her coverage.

Local AA member Jeffrey Epstein grateful you only have to provide your first name in meetings.

Honestly, if he was obsessively saying it in the group chats he'd be fine. The op-ed class were friends with Epstein after all. But saying it publicly makes him too toxic to associate with.

A lot of scholars also assert that since the story involves a man visiting his mistress in Argentina the "Appalachian Trail" may actually have been the Pan-America Highway in the original, suggesting the second version is a rewrite.

No, no it makes perfect sense. Everyone knows that nothing brings feuding factions together better than large sums of money being involved.

Mississippi and Alabama would be blue states if whites there voted Republican at the same rate as whites in Ohio.

Conservatives can't make humor about liberals because they inevitably get so mad they forget to actually make a joke. But they can make humor about other conservatives because it doesn't make them nearly as angry.

Imagine living in a world where you say "I like pancakes" and 10K people respond like you just admitted to being behind 9/11, but also you can say "I don't know what 2+2 is" and a different 10K people will declare you are the greatest thinker since Einstein. How could that not drive you insane?
November 15, 2025 at 12:18 AM
It doesn't help that having a massive following also means there's thousands of people who have a vendetta against you and will scream at you for even the most innocuous comment.

The other obvious example of this is when Iran hacked the Trump 2025 campaign and NYT declared that hacked materials could not be ethically used, a standard they didn't adhere to with Clinton's emails and immediately abandoned once a Nazi hacker gave them Mamdani's college application.
