If you believe either that Franklin discovered the double helix, and / or Watson and Crick stole her data, ask yourself how you know this. Then take a read of this article.

OK, I have set up a Substack and posted an article there going into much more detail about Francis Crick and the poet Michael McClure. If the link between science and art is your thing, or you just like psychedelic poetry, have a read:
The Powerful Knowledge: How the Poetry of Michael McClure Influenced the Scientist Francis Crick
In July 1959, the co-discoverer of the DNA double helix, Francis Crick, took a psychedelic trip on peyote through the power of poetry.

Excellent thread from @chrislintott.bsky.social, but without knowing much (tho I do know about DMS on Earth) this was my assumption. The history of work on this planet and the difficulties involved, outlined upthread, only reinforce my doubts.
And if the chemistry is odd, then identifying any molecule as a biosignature is hard. In an exotic environment, there may be many many ways to produce DMS. So even if it’s real: not evidence for life, unless you understand the whole chemistry of the atmosphere (11/n)

With the excitement about dimethyl sulfide in the atmosphere of K2-18b as unequivocal proof of extraterrestrial life, here’s the industrial process used for its manufacture:

2 CH₃OH + H₂S → (CH₃)₂S + 2 H₂O

Both methanol and hydrogen sulphide occur abiotically. 🧪🔭

Unfortunately, so do we in the EU. Because we know UK...
These names will be remembered as the new Watergate burglars: Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.
Unelected, media-anointed "genius" installs idiot king and then takes over, appointing his tech-bro infants to run government affairs and implement his alternative vision to dumb-ass democracy that will fix everything.

America, we in the UK know this story.
