People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.
They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Couch to 5k week 8 run 3. Nearly gave up after three minutes! Thankfully I got into my stride and completed the 25 minutes. One more week until I ‘graduate.’ Maybe I’ll come to enjoy it!

Mark Carney is right. One senses that this is a moment in history when a radical realignment in the West will emerge that will work around or exclude the US. Every empire bears the seeds of its own destruction, and some of these seeds are now taking root and growing.

What changed DJT’s mind on the pause was the bond market-ie those who were holding US debt were selling. Presently interest on debt is higher than military spending. Yet he wants to pass a bill that will increase the debt by several trillion dollars, giving debt holders more leverage over the US. 🤦♂️

Today I’m remembering the life and death (80 years ago today) of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was a great hero of the Confessing Church in Germany. While his theology is still studied and relevant, at local church level he is perhaps best known for his 1945 New Year poem
