You wouldn't use られる or ことができる because those are used for referring to ability or skill to do something.

Renshuu, LiongoDeer, and MaruMori are all great and not evil.

There's also Kanji Study by Chase Corben, and WaniKani for kanji which are also not run by evil people.

If you love learning by yourself then get a book for teaching yourself.

If you get motivated by anime/manga, then use those to help you practice.

It depends on you, what your goals are and how you like to learn.

Want to learn how to speak it? Watch YouTube courses on grammar and get a teacher to work through a textbook with.

Want to learn how to read? Get a textbook and work through it while using additional apps to help you remember vocab.

ことができる CAN mean "have the ability to" BUT it's more formal/polite so you'd use it when talking about other people.

Let's take another example with 泳ぐ.

泳げる means "I can (have the ability to) swim" while 泳ぐことができる means "I can swim (here/in this situation)"

食べられる means "I have the ability to eat" as in "I can eat it without any negative side effects".

食べることができる means "you can eat" as in "you have the chance to eat this here/in this situation."

In English they both mean "can eat" but the nuance is ever so slightly different.

Honestly, English conversation teacher? There are Japanese sites for freelance remote teachers who can speak Japanese, although I'm not sure about their qualifications.

For getting work IN Japan, you ideally need another skill and a degree in that skill. Like programming or UI.
