Has to be understood in context of the slow-walking that has been happening overall bc of ag trade issues. U.K. can't politically stomach the concessions Canada wants, and Canada is holding U.K. cheese exports ransom. Call to terminate the holding pattern deal altogether is a new tactic.

the long-running battle over slaughter regs/hygeine standards
Canada's in line w/ U.S. regs b/c very cross-border integrated.
Canada's grievance dates back to CETA/Brexit fights, and remains unresolved with both EU and now UK.
