He missed the actual story. Jill Lepore’s review takes the book to task for failing to document the systemic brutality of the racism society in which he was raised and the impact they have had on his attitudes and ideology.

Anam Thubten and Chakhung Rinpoche spent hours helping with the QC of the scanning project. They checked every page of the 26 volumes to make sure that the pagination was correct and to check for missing pages. The few missing pages could be found in the 2 other sets of the NGB at Abhaya Fellowship.

This print originates from newly carved blocks replicating the late-18th century Derge Edition. These blocks are faithful replicas of the originals, with no additions, deletions, or significant edits. BDRC's scans of the original Derge edition contain unclear passages due to woodblock wear.

March 14, 2025 is a major Buddhist holiday known as the Display of Miracles (ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་དུས་ཆེན Chotrul Düchen). BDRC is celebrating with the publication of a collection that is something of a modern day miracle: prints of a new set of woodblocks of the Nyingma Gyubum recently carved in Derge, Tibet.
