All Health Secretaries need a cynical and jaded doctor sat with them at the table to say “Are you fucking mental?” when their aspirational SPADs, careerist medics and civil servants (with little to no background in the service) puke up their latest wheeze for their consideration.

I've been saying for years there's two things that happened when we let Covid spread freely:
