Pretty sure we lost our minds when we invited 4 boys over to decorate cookies and watch a movie. I forgot that they would find time to wrestle and cause mayhem.

Kiddo talking about baseball and Halloween treats with his friend on a landline in the living room is the funniest thing.
November 1, 2025 at 9:33 PM
Kiddo and some of his friends (age 10) don’t have cell phones but some of us parents decided we would get old fashioned landlines and now they are calling each other like it’s 1990. So cute!

First basketball game of the season for kiddo ends in a loss but some great plays. In what I hope is a sign of maturity, kiddo is playing with Lego upon coming home and doesn’t seem upset about the result of the game. Plus, only one kid cried and only one kid had trouble with shoelaces.

We blocked YouTube from the family iPad so kiddo wouldn’t fall into some sketchy algorithm and now he’s watching cute and wholesome cooking shows instead.

Went to the park with a bat, gloves and a baseball with kiddo (10) today. He wanted me to play catcher while he practiced his pitching. I can’t express how cute it was that I not only had to give him finger signals, but he was pretending to hear a pitchcom in his hat! Pretend play going strong here.

Watching the Blue Jays game with my son, who has absolutely no chill, one inning in. He’s trash talking the TV like it will make a difference.
October 13, 2025 at 9:33 PM
The Blue Jays play at exactly the same time today as my kiddo is finishing up a baseball game and then going straight to soccer. If we are lucky, we can catch the last few innings after that. What are the odds?!

Every time I successfully sign up my kid for a sport or activity with limited spots that disappear in minutes, I feel like I just won a championship.

The sports weekend has now concluded. Two baseball games, one soccer game, one soccer training session and one end of season celebration for the boy, three soccer games for the end of season tournament for me.
Exhausted.

First game of fall ball season for kiddo and he hits a grand slam in the final inning. He is still talking about it a couple of hours later.

Kiddo is once again in a class with all his best buds. I don’t know how he got so lucky. I hope this year’s teacher can roll with it like last year’s. It’s a lot of pre-teen boy energy.

Do not operate drones in a wildfire area. It is illegal. It can interfere with our firefighting efforts. The fine is $25,000 under the Forests Act, there could be fines under federal legislation as well.

Halifax Minor Baseball could use three more 13U players for the recreational summer league, if you know of a kid born in 2012 or 2013 who would enjoy a couple of games and a practice a week. No tryouts, this is *rec* league. #Halisky

So the kiddo is now one shoe size away from men’s sizing so things are about to get a lot more expensive. Luckily, got a deal on a nice pair of basketball shoes in youth size.

I have FOMO that I can’t make it to the Tides home game this weekend. I think my kiddo would be upset if I skipped his soccer game to see the Tides game without him. So much going on this weekend, sports-wise!

Youth sports is so interesting. Kiddo plays in 3 different organized team sports and it’s literally the same pool of kids involved in every sport. I’m not including hockey because he doesn’t play, but likely lots of overlap there too.

A teacher at my kiddo’s school told me something entirely unexpected about him and I couldn’t be prouder. Sometimes as parents, we don’t see our kids at their best. It’s nice to hear it and to know that some of what we try to instil at home is sticking.
