also just clarifying that i am a weirdo who has 100% enjoyed certain kinds of fanservice before and do not object to sexy women being in my media (rather the opposite), this is just specifically about a perspective that views absolute objectification and hypersexualisation as an obligation

fanservice is a method of establishing ownership as much as it is about raw sex appeal. it doesn't have to be "hot" in the conventional sense, it just has to make women who might interact with it uncomfortable. imo thats why chuds treat less sexualised women in media as a matter of life and death

which is why chuds react so badly to "woke" character designs. it's not that their only thought was gooning to tracer's ass or whatever, it's that the media is not setting out a stall that says "we hate and objectify women as much as you do, and will make women uncomfortable to keep them out"

to pick an example sumeragi constantly having her tits out in gundam 00 is not particularly alluring or attractive, but it sure made me feel kind of uncomfortable and like the show wasn't really made for me. it feels like a token concession to the male audience who don't wanna get cooties from girls
