He says "won't interfere". Nandy said that due to the charter's strict rules for dismissal, she did not have the power to remove him. Then recharter! FFS. This is bloody intolerable.

There wasn't any conversation, I don't believe, and everything I read suggests this was all just done very quietly. One piece I read made that pretty explicit.

I see them like the Democrats in the US, no belief in anything that's morally justifiable, or too cowardly to stand up for anything they might believe in, just greedy for the position for its own sake and the benefits it brings.

One particularly welcome aspect is the absolute requirement for a VV licence only to be granted to properties if local planning rules (not just touristic) specifically allow it - rules set by Ayuntamientos, and to properties previously used residentially, not touristically ...

The law was also opposed by the PSOE (shamefully IMO) and the nationalists Nueva Canarias (no surprise), and especially by the appalling (IMO) free-for-all letting organization ASCAV which has essentially been calling for no restrictions for the past 15 years or so.
