Agreed.

I flicked through a copy of this book at Waterstones this morning. Looks excellent, but my goodness, profoundly depressing...

Read this today (for the first time), in two sittings. Can't believe I have not read any Deborah Levy before.

My goodness, Hot Milk is an exquisite novel.

Slow Sunday on account of the rain.

Made @nigella.bsky.social chocolate and marmalade cake from How to be a Domestic Goddess.

Not fancy, just thoroughly delicious.

Using up leftover mincemeat...

Baked apples stuffed with mincemeat, roasted almonds, served with greek yoghurt.

Lovely brunch on this very cold, snowy day 😊

Long walk this afternoon. Love living in #Leeds on days like this.

*lost the dog for 10 minutes along the canal though, which was a bit stressful!

My Christmas reading so far. Two Christmas novellas and one I can't believe I've not got round to reading until now.

All fantastic writing, that has stayed with me.

My NY resolution? To read more fiction!

Happy new year everyone!

I am making like a Tudor and observing the full 12 days of Christmas* 😉

*eating cheese until 5th January

I love how manufacturers hype their stuff with the liberal use of "technology".

Exhibit A - washing up liquid, boasting about not leaking.

Made me reflect on how academics might use this approach...

What would your technology be?

Mine would be:

"RETAINING-POSITIVITY TECHNOLOGY"

Been a windy day, so I turned to baking...

Dried pear fruit loaf (for Christmas cheese boards) and chocolate and almond biscotti.

Both from my new cookbook this year - Advent. So lovely🎄

It was a tiring 48 hours, but very much worth the trip to Stavanger!

Not been to the International Behavioural Science Applied to Healthcare meeting before, and was delighted to be invited to talk to such a knowledgeable group.

Hoping to join again next year in London!

Lovely to be hosting the second SafetyNet PSRC event here in Leeds, exploring cultures of safety and how we might improve them in healthcare.

Went to Northumberland for the first time ever, this weekend. I'm ashamed to say I've never seen Hadrian's Wall, until now.

Beautiful weather in an absolutely beautiful spot. I will definitely be back 😊

Excited to see the publication today of a paper by @thisinstitute.bsky.social funded fellow Debbie Clark.

Explores why nurses work around safety standards, how it is an inevitable part of complex systems, & may help create safety as much as challenge it.

Reviving and reinvigorating weekend in the north of God's Own County.

Beautiful spot and rather lovely weather.

Up early for the HSJ Patient Safety Congress.

Feels like in the wake of the Darzi report, and further recent examples of safety failures, there will be lots to discuss.

V.early train to Cambridge.

The upside is that I get an almost entirely empty carriage (thus far at least).
