An unfortunately unhelpful intervention.
Courage was, and is still, needed to help Ukraine win, achieve justice & accountability and rebuild. Less is learning the wrong lessons from history.

Except of course there are many examples where Russia (or USSR) were beaten incl
Afghanistan 1979-89, Japan 1905 and World War One.

The Pole in me should point out the fall of the Soviet Union was really in Poland a few months earlier, when on the 4 June the first (partially) free elections were held, peacefully ending communist rule in that country and setting an example for the rest of the block.

Strongly agree. It's such a shame Poland's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will be dwarved by a tsarist-era building rather than leaving it as a symbol of war time destruction and sacrifice
