Daily Mail notwithstanding, it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you get ‘defrocked’ for. Sounds like he may have needed pastoral support and wasn’t receiving any. But why was he driving the Bishop’s car? And what on earth hat is that he’s wearing?

There’s something not very ‘Lincoln Diocese’ about this … 😳

But first, The Solemnity of Christ the King, founded in 1925 by Pope Pius XI and therefore 100 years old tomorrow 👑

Welcome to the ditch you’re prepared to die in. But be aware that many transgender people are beginning to move on now. They understand that unregulated self ID isn’t on the table and want to talk about other possibilities

As you’ll have noticed, that hasn’t worked, it isn’t working now, and there’s no reason to think it ever could work. In better news, society remains well disposed towards transgender people, if not quite so much as before, and is keen to find solutions with those who are willing to explore them.

Cab, this is a practical problem that society has created and there are a number of practical measures that society can now take to address it so I suggest we stop wringing out our handkerchiefs and get on with doing that.

Maybe that would make more sense in German. Thank you for the conversation and now must get on with my day.

No, you’re right, there’s no future in expecting users of facilities to also ‘police’ them. If we are unable to restore the social contract by which people voluntarily respect these boundaries I reckon we’ll end up with some kind of digital ID for accessing public spaces, thanks a lot for that 🫤

There have always been a few, we all know that. They came and went in peace because they were a tiny number and mostly behaved discreetly. Bonkers trans activists have ruined that for them, probably for good.

You certainly have a florid imagination. Meanwhile irl if ppl won’t cooperate with single sex provisions we’re far more likely to end up with digital ID to access public spaces much as you tap a bank card to pay 50p in many places already.

Tralala don’t give me this ‘single sex spaces can never work because appearances’ stuff. Never in my life have I even thought about the appearance of a woman in a single sex space because I was able to take it for granted that they were all female. Let’s get back to those days.

I think most people are risk averse and law abiding and will take on board the new clarity about which spaces they should use. A small number may choose to defy and insist and there will probably be a difficult time during which this has to be addressed but it will hopefully be short term.

You’ve got it the wrong way round. The visual checking and anxiety about who else is in a space and whether they should be there is what’s going on now. We should not have to do that. Reinstating these boundaries will hopefully put an end to such concerns and restore peace of mind to most of us.

I’d take this really seriously if it weren’t for the fact that single sex spaces worked just fine and everyone navigated them without difficulty until about 5 minutes ago. They will work again once we have reinstated the social contract that we all stay out of spaces that are meant for other people

But did it work?

I’ve briefly dropped in on this series a couple of times and found it unrecognisable. This is now the second bad adaptation since the original. With hindsight, no more Forsyte.
